The Stoke Clinical Waste Incineration Facility is a new clinical waste incineration facility at Scotia Road Business Park, Tunstall, Stoke on Trent. The project is a redevelopment and repurposing of a previous biomass power generation facility. Construction enabling works began in 2020 and the facility is expected to be operational in early 2022.

The new plant will be capable of processing up to 16,000 tonnes of clinical waste per annum. The facility will use proven incineration technology based on a reciprocating grate system. Heat will be recovered from the process via a modern waste heat recovery boiler. The boiler raises saturated steam, which will be used to generate electricity by means of two Heliex Power Limited steam expanders, complete with generation sets and will provide hot water to wash the clinical waste receptacles.

During full operation, the facility will be electrically self-sufficient and excess electricity will be exported to the local electricity distribution network to provide power for the local community. A Cobalt Energy business, Stoke Operations Limited has been awarded a five-year contract to operate and maintain the facility. Waste Energy Power (WEP) Partners are the appointed party to deliver the ongoing Management Services function of the project on behalf of the owner, Clinitek (Stoke) LLP. Waste Energy Power (WEP) Partners will sit between Stoke Operations Limited and Clinitek (Stoke) LLP, covering project, technical and commercial management functions.
