Maintenance Manager

To lead and manage the site Maintenance Team, comprising mechanical, electrical and multi-skilled technicians, in delivering safe, compliant and cost-effective preventative and reactive maintenance across all site plant and equipment. The role is central to maximising plant availability and reliability, ensuring statutory compliance, and managing the maintenance budget.

Roles & Responsibilities:

·       Manage, coach anddevelop the Maintenance Team, including performance reviews and training plans.

·       Maintain a clearunderstanding of plant condition and performance, responding promptly andeffectively to breakdowns and unplanned stoppages.

·       Source and manageexternal contractors were required, selecting suppliers based on competence,safety performance, cost and availability. Ensure all contractors are approvedand inducted and work under appropriate RAMS and permit controls.

·       Plan, scope,resource and deliver planned outages on time and within budget, includingcontractor coordination and post-outage review.

·       Provide technicalsupport and guidance to both the Operations and Maintenance teams.

·       Work closely withthe Operations Manager to ensure maximum plant availability.

·       All other dutieswhich reasonably fall within the capability of the Maintenance Manager wheredirected or requested by the Plant Manager.

·       Ensure site remainscompliant to required regulations (PSSR, LOLER, COSSH).

·       Manage themaintenance budget, both operational and capital, including cost control andforecasting.

·       Manage criticalspares and stores, ensuring appropriate stock levels for critical plant.

·       Lead root causeanalysis of significant failures and drive continuous improvement in plantreliability.

·       Ensure the CMMS isaccurately maintained, including work orders, asset history and PPM schedules.

·       Produce and reviewrisk assessments and method statements for maintenance activities.

 

Key Accountabilities:

·       Lead by example inhealth and safety, ensuring full compliance with the Health and Safety at Workregulations and WOL site safety rules.

·       Participate in thesite on-call rota (currently 1 week in 4).

·       Ensure all membersof the Maintenance Team follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workinstructions.

·       Observe, befamiliar with and comply with all company policies.

·       Ensure allcondition-based maintenance (CBM) activities are completed in line withComputerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) schedules.

·       Achieve plannedpreventative maintenance (PPM) compliance targets and contribute to the siteavailability target of 90%, with performance monitored through KPIs such as PPMcompliance.

·       Produce a monthlydepartmental performance report, covering KPIs, costs, safety and outageprogress, by close of business on the fifth working day of the following month.

·       Ensure highstandards of housekeeping are maintained, keeping all work areas clean, tidyand safe.

·       Steam, condensateand water systems.

·       Turbine andgenerator.

·       HV/LV electricaldistribution.

·       Control andinstrumentation (DCS/PLC).

·       Compressed airsystems.

·       Flue gas abatementand reagent dosing systems.

·       Water treatmentplant.

·       Ash conveyors.

·       Fire detectionand suppression

 

Experience/Qualifications/Skills:

Essential:

·       An HNC/HND or degree in mechanical orelectrical engineering, or an equivalent time-served apprenticeship withmanagement experience.

·       Proven experience in a maintenance managementrole within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

·       Strong leadership and team management skillswith a focus on development and performance.

·       Experience of permit-to-work systems andsafe isolation

·       Experience of CMMS and maintenance budgetmanagement.

·       Demonstrated ability to effectively diagnoseand resolve complex plant breakdowns.

·       Experience in planning and executingmaintenance schedules and plant outages.

·       A proactive and preventativemaintenance-focused approach.

·       Excellent communication, interpersonal, andcollaboration skills.

·       A strong commitment to health, safety andregulatory compliance.

·       Flexibility to participate in the on-callrota.

 

Desirable:

·       Experiencein power generation, biomass, energy-from-waste or a process industry.

·       NEBOSHGeneral Certificate.

·       Knowledgeof reliability-centred maintenance or root cause analysis techniques.
