COBALT ENERGY’S ROLE
Cobalt Energy worked with the portfolio owner, Good Energy, to design a bespoke end of warranty inspection service for their sites across the UK. This included the following elements:

  • An operational performance review – comparing planned against actual performance
  • Engineer, procure and construction (EPC) contract compliance review
  • Operations and maintenance (O&M) contract compliance review
  • Planning condition compliance review
  • Site construction quality walk around for all areas
  • Spot-check hand-held thermography for modules, string combiner boxes, inverters and transformers to reporting on any abnormalities found
  • Spot-check electrical testing including continuity tests, RISO, short circuit current and open circuit voltage
  • Production of ‘photographic punch list’ for works to be carried out before final site handover
  • Full aerial thermographic survey of the site array, generating a report to summarise findings and potential hot spot or problem areas needing further investigation

These works allowed the site owners to ensure that their respective EPC’s who built the sites were able to resolve issues identified issues or shortfalls in construction and operational quality before their contractual obligations expired.
